Drug-Induced Deaths Just Surpassed Traffic Fatalities as the leading Cause of Accidental Death!

 According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the misuse or abuse of prescription drugs is responsible for the increase in accidental deaths. In an effort to prevent prescription drug abuse, SHIP is spearheading a community response to reduce these deaths in the Treasure Valley called “Connect the Pieces.” “Connect the Pieces is working to bring together the Medical Community, State and Local Government, Law Enforcement and the community (families, friends, schools, churches, social service agencies and businesses) to develop a coordinated response.

In 2011, the Office of National Drug Control Policy released the prescription drug abuse plan which included:
