SHIP is a non-profit organization that provides affordable treatment services, clean and sober housing and recovery support. The Second Chance store is one part of SHIP’s job training program to help people in recovery learn new work skills. SHIP runs eight clean and sober houses in Boise and is getting ready to open Boise’s first shared housing program for women entering recovery to be able to stay with their children.
The recycled art show being held in conjunction with the Rally is a promotion for the Second Chance Building Materials Center, a retail store run by Supportive Housing and Innovative Partnerships (SHIP). Second Chance sells recycled and donated building materials, appliances and other items for home improvement projects. The store has won the Enviroguard award and in 2006 was named one of Boise’s most progressive businesses. Proceeds from the store go to help run SHIP’s drug and alcohol treatment programs.
