Second Chance Building Materials Center

The store was one of five companies to receive the city of Boise's annual EnviroGuard Pollution Prevention Award in 2006 because of its mission to reuse and recycle. The annual awards recognize businesses working to better the environment.

Money raised at the center helps to fund the non-profit Supportive Housing and Innovative Partnerships program.

Supportive Housing and Innovative Partnerships, Inc (SHIP) is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to developing a holistic system to serve the needs of persons in recovery from alcohol and substance abuse. The Second Chance Triad brings together clean and sober housing, detox and treatment, peer support and jobs to create the systemic support and cultural change that is needed to support persons who have chosen recovery. Make a contribution. Join SCBMC. Donate your used building materials -- work with us to make our community a place where one can live with out abusing substances.

Reuse stores are becoming popular nationwide. Some are private business, some nonprofit organizations; but their missions are the same: to keep usable building materials out of landfills and to provide a low-cost alternative to conventional hardware stores and home-improvement centers.
